Just a couple issues

Hey All,
Hoping some one can help me out with a couple of issues.

First, I have Adobe Reader installed on our 2X Server (v6 bld465). The server is here in the same building I reside in. I can run the reader with absolutely no issues; however, some of our end users in England state that when they try to view PDF files there is a major lag time (runs reader off server not client station).

Next issue:
Is there a way to ONLY redirect the end users C drive and no other drives?
So they only see drives mapped via the login script and
C on THEIRCOMPUTER

What do you mean by lag time? If they connect with normal RDP not using 2X Application Server, is there still this lag time?

I haven't really tried to have them use RDP directly as I don't even want them to know that's an option, I only want them to know about the published apps.

Now, as for what I believe he's stating by lag time.... is more on the refresh rate. The file opens quickly; however, when you change the view size or scroll through the PDF document there is a lag of time it takes for the screen to refresh.

Any ideas Nixu?

I still think that the best thing to do is to test with MS RDP client first and see if it has the same effect.

I don't want to be rude, but it seems obvious to me that your users from England, who are connecting to your server in Illinois, are experiencing (huge) lag. I think that reading/scrolling/resizing PDFs is probably the worst case scenario, especially over that distance. Imo the only working solution is to put a terminal server in England and let them connect locally (as in the same country). But even then PDF over WAN can be annoyingly slow.

Oh don't worry about being rude. I feel the same way.

On the Citrix Server (not part of the 2X farm) they don't have this issue. I'm kind of wondering if it has to do with his resolution on his local PC, compared to what's on the server. Also wondering if routing the PDF extension to open Adobe Reader on the local computer would help.

For some reason, they run ALL servers except a single server for DHCP over in the Illinois location. Email, File, App Servers, etc...
