Keep Losing Files In Shared Folders

Hi All,

I am new to the world of MAC's but I must say that so far I am impressed. But I am having problems with my shared folders. I use VMWARE every day so I understand how how sharing files is supposed to work in a virtual environment.

I have decided to share the Documents folder from my MAC host to my newly converted Windows XP machine, and I am able to access them, sort of. There has been times that I have added or updated a document on the shared folder from the VM, but the updated document does not show up in the Documents folder of my MAC. There are other times that I see documents in my Documents folder of the MAC but I do not see them in the shared folder on the VM. I know it sounds weird but I do not know what to make of it. It is almost like there is a ghost or cached image of the document sitting around waiting to find its way home.

I have repeatedly checked the path of the files I am looking at to ensure that they were referencing the share and not a location in the local drive to the VM.

Has anyone seen Parallels act like this? Any suggestions on what I could look for?

To find the shared folders from windows, (They are not where you think they would be)
click on My Computer, then My Network Places, then Shared Folders with Windows XP on .psf. You should now see your shared folders.
 
Well it turned out that there was a loose operating nut at the wheel. I had copied the folder twice so I had different versions of the same file floating around. So much for trying to impress you all with my first post. :mad:
