keyboard types uppercase letter W in ubuntu virtual machine unless caps lock on

The capitization of the letter W is reversed when typing an ubuntu 17.10 virtual machines.
This is affecting two different virtual machines

The keyboard works as expected in mac OS Sierra.

How do i even begin solving this?

I have Parallels tools installed already, the article is about unistalling. did you mean uninstall?

 

This is a problem in parallels only. I've done a fresh install in parallels and veertu, the issu occurs in parallels only
