Launching Parallels Sets Kodak Printer Status to Offline

Using Parallels for Mac version 6.0.11992.625164.
Mac Mini Intel 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo 8GB RAM.
I am using a Kodak 3250 printer.

I print a Mac document and leave the Printer Status Window open so the Printer Icon is visible in the Dock after the print job is completed.
I launch Parallels.
The Printer Icon turns the yellow Off-line indicator on.
I click the icon in the Dock to open the Printer Status Window and the printer status is Off-line.
I launch the Kodak AiO Home Center and get a message that the utility cannot connect to the printer.
The only way to print from the Mac side and to use the Kodak utility is to shut down Parallels.

Please elaborate...

Is this printer a "network printer" or is it connected directly to your computer? More curiosity than anything. I have seen similar behavior with networked printers when starting VMs in Parallels. My Cannon seems to go to "paused" whenever Parallels starts a VM with network access. I suspect it has something to do with network sharing. In fact, the Cannon utility has a real hard time finding the printer/scanner on the network on its own... I have to direct it to the appropriate IP address every time... As of now, I don't really have a solution to this irritating problem.

If it is networked...

If your printer is networked as opposed to directly connected with a USB, you may want to fiddle with the Parallels network settings. Go to the VM configuration for the offending Windows system and select "Hardware". Find the network card in the list. Use the drop-down and try some of the "Bridged" modes. I did notice that my Cannon utility is much more cooperative with my networked printer/scanner when the VM is using "Bridged."

No promises that this will fix your issue... but it is something to at least try. Good luck.

It is direct connect, so I will try messing with the VM network settings. I'll keep you all posted, I do a appreciate the help.
