i have only one terminalserver and the TS is set to limit one session per user. since the upgrade to the latest 8.1 Release and earlier betas i am missing the option in the 2x console and the limit is not active anymore.
hi This feature is only available for load balancing between 2 servers or more, in smb edition this feature should be enabled from Ms Terminal Server. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc787315(WS.10).aspx
i set the option you mentioned via gpo yesterday and tested with 2 parallel logons. on first try it did not work, but i had 2 different versions running on the clients. the first had 8.0.860 the other 8.0.827 after updating the lower one to the latest 8.1.870 it worked. must have changed something on client side too in the latest releases.
nothing was changed from this point of view as the limit is done by the terminal server when using a single server. i would recommened to use the last version 8.1.875, both client and server to have the latest versions.
the thing is when i leave an connection open in the company and then connect from home via https a new session is generated. When i connect directly via vpn the open session is taken over.
make sure you are using the same credentials. i am assuming you have only 1 server. you can post the session information when you end up with 2 sessions and state which ones have the probem.
ID User IP Protocol State Type 18 userx 192.168.2.41 RDP Active Published Application 1 userx 192.168.178.59 RDP Active Published Application - Applications User Application Server Session userx@DOMAIN jescali.exe localhost 18 userx@DOMAIN Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 localhost 1 i am connecting through https via internet gateway from home but the client connects directly through the vpn. 192.168.2.41 is my ip @work 192.168.178.59 ist my ip@home i would expect my isp-ip to be connected or is it normal that the client connects with the local network ip?
I will get back to you on monday however if you can test the following and let me know the result i can undestand more whats going on, i think i know what is needed. from work after open an application and then instead of leaving it connected, just disconnect the session (do not logof or reset the session) try from home start with the same application not a different one. /\/\/\\/\/\
i did all you told me with the same result. i disconnected through 2x client @work and opened the same app @home getting a new session
hi there i tries it out and it works fine for me. make sure you are using the same credenials and you limit the user to one session from the terminal server btw what server are you using?
same user, gpo set on w2k3 x64. the problem only appeares when i have a tunnel open from home and connect through internet gateway and not through vpn. when i connect through the vpn the session is taken over.i can now choose if i want a new one or take the first one over i can live with that choice.
