Linux Screen Resolution

I have Ubuntu linux as one of my VMs. Both my Mac and Linux VM are set to 1024x768. However in the Linux window I still have to scroll left/right and up/down. If I use full screen mode it displays fine just not in its own window. I do not have this problem in XP or Vista.
 
ae6dx, there is no any tools for Linux, so it is possible such isuue. Our developers work on Parallels Tools for Linux, so soon this problem will be solved.
 
I've got a post on my blog (the link is in my sig) that explains how to get widescreen working in Parallels on FreeBSD, but the steps should be the same in Linux.

The "modeline" step is the critical bit, after which you can set your resolution to "1440x900" or "1280x800" and so forth :).

If it's too all confusing let me know and I can simplify.
 
Sorry I re-read your post and saw you're running Ubuntu. Guess it pays to read first!

You can follow the steps on my blog, but instead of using the command line you'll want to open a Gnome terminal instead, and use the nano editor instead of ee. When you edit your xorg.conf file you may need to log out and back in again before you can select the new resolutions. Again my experience is with FreeBSD and Slackware not Ubuntu but other than those the steps should be the same.
