Lion guest screen resolution limited to 1024x768

I'm running Parellels 7.0.15104.778994 on a 2012 Macbook Pro w/Retina display and 16gigs of ram. I've installed a Lion guest operating system. Unfortunately the screen resolution of the guest Lion vm is limited to 1024x768 and under System Preference -> Display there are no other screen resolutions listed. Is there a way I can increase the screen resolution of the guest Lion vm?

Did you install Parallels Tools in the Lion guest?
The Parallels Tools package includes a Dynamic Resolution Tool that has been optimized for the guest screen resolution.
