Lion VM Frozen..."Mac OS X Stopping.."

I recently shut down my Lion VM to make a change to the VM settings. When I selected "Shut Down" from within the VM it started the process but the Parallels window went sold black with the cursor spinning like it was working on something. I left it like this for quite some time with no change so I "Forced Quit".

I then relaunched Parallels. When it started I got a grey window with "Mac OS X" underneath which it said "Stopping..." with the circle thing spinning indicating it was doing something. I can't get passed this screen, Parallels won't let me do anything else.

Suggestions?

Solved my own problem but I am not sure way. A 2nd restart seems to have cleared the issue and the Lion VM is working again.
