location not available on windows 10.1 start up

After a recent update (I think), I get an error on start up that "location is not available...C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable....

When i click ok, it brings up a black desktop with only the Recycle Bin icon. The bottom left windows start button doesn't work. When i double click the recycle bin, I get the error message: explorer.ext.....an attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist."

What can I do?

One more, @RobD8 please let us know when the issue appeared? Maybe after some updates for example?
