Losing pixels in Windows XP

This is my first post so let me preface by saying I'm coming to Parallels from Virtual PC on a G5. You have no idea how thrilled I am with Parallels. Seriously well done. I just have a few minor annoyances I could use assistance with. #1? Losing pixels.

So during the course of the day I'll move windows around in all my apps. Sometimes I end up pushing Parallels off to the right so it's only half visible on my MacBook Pro. I shut down. Next day I boot Parallels and find that instead of 1024 x 768, Windows XP is now running at whatever portion of the Parallels window was visible at the point I shut down. Just happened to me today, so my resolution is 857 x 768.

Other than remembering to move the Parallels window back to the center of my MacBook Pro screen before I quit the app, is there any way to avoid this resizing?

Thanks in advance.

The issue you are describing happens due to the dynamic Parallels window resizing feature. To put it simply, Parallels window size depends on the guest OS screen resolution it is running, so by changing the window size we change Windows resolution to some custom value. And because of Parallels Desktop remembering the last window position it was shut down - it restarts at the same place, but as it's unable to draw it's window beyond the borders, it resizes and changes Windows screen resolution accordingly.
It's behavior in PD 3.0 is generally the same.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll just try and be more careful about moving the window around.

Actually, I suppose the main reason I do that is because I'm experiencing the problem where Parallels will (intermittently) not hide. I found three threads in the archives about it. No resolution to the problem, though one reply suggested it's because of a bug in the Finder. Is there any more known information about the hide issue? Possible triggers or 3rd party software incompatibilities? I'm willing to experiment...

Please provide some more details on this problem with Parallels not hiding.
Do you mean it won't minimize to the Dock? Any screenshots and links to the old discussion threads you've mentioned would be helpful too.

Can do:

What happens is Parallels won't hide -- by hitting Cmd-H, selecting Hide from the menu, or selecting Hide from the Dock. Doesn't happen all the time, and even after five months or so I haven't figured out a way to consistently reproduce the problem.

The second part of this is after an unsuccessful hide attempt -- it could be minutes later, or hours -- the guest OS window will suddenly vanish and the only way to get it back is to quit and restart Parallels.
