Lost hdd file and now windows is not recognized

Lost HDD file and now will not boot

I must have screwed up something:

-- For some reason, I lost reference to my hdd file. I used the procedure to repair outlined in the knowledge base. When I tried to open the file it hung up when booting up.

.. it starts booting and stops with:
"boot from hard drive". There is no message that the file is corrupted; it just won't boot up. Any suggestions?


IMAC 2gb windows xp Parallels latest build.

Hello,

please try to create a new VM in Parallels ('File' -> 'New') via 'Custom' setup and 'using existing hsrd disk image'. Will it help?

Sorry, but the file still hangs upon boot up.

Am I out of luck with repairing this file or do you have any more ideas.
My other .hdd files work ok, but this is the most recent one and has some items I would like to recover.

Hello,

please right-click the .hdd file and choose Open Package Contents from the pop-up menu. In the window that opens, do you have the file that ends in .lck?
Also please browse the folder where .hdd file is stored and tell me if you have ".sav" and ".mem" files there.

No files of any sort that you mentioned.

I tried to convert the file in Parallels Image Tool, but it says it is not in a .hdd format.
Sounds bad!
