Macbook/ parallels desktop question!!?

Bit poster
for university i need to install a software (given by the uni) and when i asked them if it could be installed on a mac they said: 'You may use an Apple laptop as long as it is partitioned with Microsoft Windows XP or 7.'
Is the parallels desktop 3.0 for mac ok?

They were meaning that you could install your software under Windows running on Mac hardware, booted via Boot Camp.

Without knowing what software you are referring to, it isn't possible to comment on whether it will work under Parallels. Can you provide more info?
