Mailing List?

Greetings.

I have installed PD v4 several times and encountered a BSOD with code 0x7b after installing Parallels Tools. So now I'm back to PD v3, which is working okay.

Is there a mailing list to announce when new builds of PD v4 are released? If not, I'd really like to see one, instead of having to come back to this forum on a daily basis.

Hey, what build of Parallels Desktop 4.0 do you have? Parallels Desktop--> About Parallels Desktop.
Make sure you have 3540 build. It works fine. If you still fall to BSOD you can just run Windows repair as described here: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5138

I tried 3540 with the same result. I had previously tried the repair of Windows, which doesn't seem likely to be the problem since it runs fine with PD v3. Thank you for the response.

Windows Repair helps most of the times when falling into BSOD.

Ok, click on Configure in Parallels Desktop taskbar and set the OS type to Ubuntu/Lunux.
Start the virtual machine and click on CD-ROM, mount prltoolswin manually.

Okay, I'm trying again. This time I did not uninstall v3 before installing v4. As far as I can tell v4 is running okay, except that Parallels Tools is (are?) not installed. If I select Linux for the OS type, the VM will not start. I suppose I could install Linux, but would that install Parallels Tools for both OSs? It seems unlikely.

Previously when I've gotten to this point, the Parallels Tools installation aborts about halfway through, and then I am greeted by repeated BSODs.

Trying again... I installed v4. Part way through the installation I got the message, "You need to manually continue the upgrade process." I clicked okay and XP seemed to be running okay, but Parallels Tools wasn't installed. I manually started that installation. It ran awhile, then I got the message, "Manual interaction is required to complete the upgrade." I clicked OK and v4 went into its continuous cycle of BSODs. So... nothing changed.
