Memory Allocation & Security Update 10.5.2

I see there is a issue with the 10.5.2 Security Update. Is this a wide spread problem, is their a fix to be out soon? I don't like the idea of not using the latest updates
 
JohnW, this has been a wide spread problem at the beginning of March but I have not heard about it the last weeks. The latest Mac OS X updates must have fixed this. Please check.

Issue still not resolved.

Apple has had no new updates since this problem. Parallels has had two builds neither of which solved the problem. I'm a victim of the security update 2008 --02 v1.1 and ever since have not been able to startup Parallels Desktop.

I trying turning virtual memory off and reinstalling parallels desktop 3.0. Unfortunately, nothing works. Apple won't help and Parallels blames Apple but doesn't explain how new customers and get their software to work on the same build I have.

I bought an external hard drive for apple's time machine tool, but too late for this issue.
 
I think there may have been *two* memory allocation bugs:

1. After installing the 10.5.2 update, some users were seeing the error

2. Some users (me!) were seeing the error when they added memory above 4GB to their Mac

I have found a partial solution:

1. Reduce the memory settings of the VM itself to 1GB
2. Start Parallels as a Login Item in the Accounts prefpane. This seems to let it grab memory earlier, maybe before it's fragmented or something.. who knows.

I can't reliably get a 2GB machine to start, the "pre-allocate" setting has no effect, and sometimes I have to lower the VM from 1GB to ~900MB to get it to start up. Frustrating. This still happens with build 5600.
 
There is indeed problem with memory allocation in 10.5.2, we have kb article for this problem http://kb.parallels.com/en/5175
Bellow are some recommendations:
1. Restart MAc, start Parallels Desktop and hold Apple key
2. Parallels Desktop -Preferences - Memory change Adjust memory limit from automatically to manual and set to less than 1 gb
3. Decrease Windows XP memory to less than 1 gb

Also please do not forget that Parallels Desktop officially support only 1500 mb

Is everyone getting this message?

Parallels Desktop failed to allocate the specified amount of memory.
Please restart Parallels Desktop and try again.
To avoid this problem in the future choose from the menu: Parallels Desktop > Preferences. On the Memory tab select the "Enable virtual memory preallocation" option.
