i have a snowball Ice mic, I believe I have this set up correctly however the sound quality through windows is poor, but fine through OS X. I have been into the sound setting on windows and the default is set to 8000hz telephone quality. Any attempt to change this in Windows to a higher bit rate is me with the message, The device is being used by another application. If you continue, that application may stop working. Do you want to continue? Selecting either yes or no results in windows defaulting back to 8000hz. Any ideas how I can change the bit rate within window to improve the sound quality?
If you have any specifc drivers for the hardware, please reinstall the drivers and check if it works.
