Mice with special software under Windows possible?

Some mice come with software and specific drivers that enable certain functionality. An example are the recent Microsoft mice. You install the following to enable some of the features:

Does Windows see the mouse as the actual model you plugin to your mac, or does it see it as a generic mouse, meaning a lot of these features won't work in Windows.

Specific example of a mouse are the current range of touch mice for Windows 8, and previous ones for Windows 7. Has anybody tried?
 
You can attach USB (or wireless w/ USB dongle) mice directly to VM via Devices > USB menu and install accompanying software.
 
Thanks, however am I right in saying that means it will only work in that VM.

If I connect it to the mac, does it pass through the actual model of keyboard, or does it use a parallels mouse driver to present it as a generic keyboard?

If so I understand that's not parallels fault. That's just the way its being virtualised. Just hoping somebody has tried it before I splash on a new mouse with specific windows features. It also has mac drivers, but I doubt that means the functionality will pass through to the vm
