Microchip MPLAB ICD2 works in 3094, finally!

OK, so now I have only one reason to boot into my BootCamp partition: Solidworks.

With it's enhanced USB & new USB 2.0 support, Parallels 3094 will finally allow me to connect the Microchip MPLAB ICD2 without the wait 5-10 seconds message and -- get this -- program a chip. I didn't do any extensive testing, but the ICD 2 drivers loaded and I was able to successfully program an 18f452 on a PIC demoboard from my Parallels XP installation. This is a pretty big deal, as programming Microchip hardware is one of the main reasons I bought Parallels in the first place.

The added bonus is that XP seems to run significantly faster, and also suspends and resumes much quicker as well. Still plenty of bugs, but it looks like Parallels is getting there fast!
 
Great - will test with Atmel AVR Dragon too

Great news - I hope this will work for my Atmel AVR Dragon too, as this one did not work either.
Busy at the moment, so do not hold your breath for the report :-)
 
I have had success with the Pickit2 and the ICD2. However, even though my MacbookPro recognizes the REAL ICE, I can't communicate with it.

We are getting there....

UPDATE 7/3/07 - My CD for V3.0 (Build 4128) allowed me to install and use REAL ICE! I'm happy now. It did require a visit to the hardware profile to modify the installation of the Macbook USB hub. And this was after going through the iterative process of getting all the WinXP (Home Edition) Security Updates, Patches, Service packs, etc..
