Migrate to a new Mac ... with a twist

Hi,

I'm looking for some help / advice. I'm about to buy a new Mac and want to migrate my Parallels virtual PC but not in a 'like for like' manner and I need to know if what I want to do is possible.
My current Mac has it's HD partitioned with a boot camp partition and an OSX partition, when I bought Parallels I used the handy tool to convert my boot camp partition into a Parallels VM. I've since learned that it's possible to run a VM off a USB flash drive, since they so cheap I bought a 128GB USB 3 flash drive. What I want to do on my new mac is run my windows VM off the flash drive and leave my entire mac HD free for OSX.

Can I / How do I migrate from my current setup to the new Mac and migrate my windows VM to a flash drive?

Hello NeilW1,
If you are running the Virtual Machine directly from the boot camp, you need to first import it to the Mac hard disk. Once this is done, you could simply copy the Virtual Machine (.pvm) file to your USB flash drive and run it on any Mac with Parallels Desktop installed. Refer to this link to find the .pvm file on your Mac.
