Migrating Parallels/XP install to new machine

Hello All
I should be getting a replacement Macbook Pro to exchange my current one which has 'issues'. I intend to migrate as much as I can from the old machine but aren't sure whether this can be done with a Parallels/XP install. Will the XP virtual partition copy over properly? Is XP likely to kick off because it's finding a different machine? My current MBP is an original but the new one will probably be Core2Duo.

I could really do without reinstaling from scratch. Any comments anyone?
 
Having had to 'rebuild' my MacBook Pro from scratch 3 times it is actually very easy.

I would caution you to 'shutdown' the XP VM properly, don't leave it suspended.

Copy of the VM XP folder onto a backup hard disk.

Install the latest version of Parallels from scratch on the new machine, this is a very simple procedure.

Copy over the saved backup VM XP folder to wherever you normally keep it (mine is in my Documents' folder.

Open the VM folder and double click on the pvs (I think) file.

It SHOULD all start up without a problem.

All went well. I did have to re-install parallels, and once I had, the VM folder that had been copied over during migration worked fine.
Still have a few things to test but everything has been bomb proof so far. (Maybe I shouldn't have said that?)
