Mouse click not registering until I move the mouse pointer in Windows 8.1

Hello
I'm using Parallels 9 and Windows 8.1. Everything is working good except for the mouse.
When I click on something, the click doesn't register until I move the mouse pointer.
So every time I want to open the start menu for example, I have to first click then move the mouse pointer.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I tried reinstalling the mouse drivers and parallels tools but no luck.

Any help appreciated

Hello smidaren,

Please try (Re)Installing Parallels Tools as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/4841
And go to VM Configure (http://kb.parallels.com/117287) > Hardware > Keyboard and Mouse > Set Smart Mouse option to "Don't optimize for games" > Restart Windows Virtual Machine.

Thanks for your suggestion but I am afraid it didn't work.
However, when I changed the mouse setting to "Optimize for games", the mouse started to behave correctly.
So, if anyone else is experiencing this problem, try changing mouse option to "Optimize for games".

Thanks for your help, Mervin!

Thanks for your reply, Mervin.
However, I am afraid it didn't work.

I did however change the mouse option to "Optimize for games" and that seemed to solve my problem. The mouse behaves normally now.
Thanks for your help!
