Mouse issue with RHEL 5.7 as guest OS

I'm just upgraded to the latest Parallels (Build 7.0.15054) and I have Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 as a Guest OS that I installed when running Parallels 6. Everything seemed to be working correctly but now I am experiencing an issue with the mouse / pointer in my guest OS, RHEL. The pointer has a tendency to jump about and when I click it appears completely off the point. The only way to navigate any UI is with the tab and arrow keys. When I return to my Host OS, (OS X 10.7.3) everything functions as expected.

I also have a guest OS of SUSE Enterprise Linux and when I run it the mouse behaves correctly. So it appears to be something with the RHEL guest OS. I have installed the Parallels Tools onto the RHEL Guest OS. In fact, after I upgraded to Parallels 7, upon the first launch of RHEL I was prompted to upgrade the Parallels Tools, which I did. But this did not resolve my issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point as my guest OS is unusable at this point.

please let us know the type of mouse mean usb or ps2, if usb please install addon tools for that then only it will work perfectly .

The mouse I am using is actually a Magic Trackpad. It connect to the host OS via Bluetooth.

Host OS: MAC OSX Lion
Guest OS: RHEL 5.7
 
Same problem

I also am running latest (upgraded from 6 to 7 last week, build 7.0.15054). I just booted my RHEL 5 OS (Macbook Pro 15" host) and the mouse was useless. Clicks were not recognized, and menu selections were nearly impossible. I was able to get to Terminal and I am in the process of removing Parallels Tools.

I am using a wireless USB mouse, but the MBP trackpad is the same symptoms. Help!

Edit: MBP is running Snow Leopard
 
Since I was unable to get a reply / solution to my posting the result was reinstalling the guest OS. (Not optimal) I believe the issue was related to the update to Parallels 7 from version 6. Once I started the guest OS (RHEL 5.7) I was told that my Parallels tools were out of date. So I upgraded the Parallels Tools and that seems to have caused the issue.

After installing a clean OS everything seemed to operate correctly, but I lost a good amount of time reinstalling and reconfiguring my guest OS.

Good luck. I hope you are able to find a solution that will save others from incurring the lost time.
 
Uninstalled tools

The solution for me thus far has been removal of Tools. Its not ideal, but the machine responds well to mouse movements and clicks now. Hopefully something will be done about this in a patch from Parallels.

Hi,
i'm also using RHEL 5.7 and had the same problem (upgrade from P6 to P7 and mouse didn't work).
I unistalled paralells tools, updated the kernel, disabled selinux and installed back paralells tools.
It works ok now. (the kernel update and selinux might be too much, but i didn't care to find out)
