Mouse not working in an imported VM

I impoterd a VM from VMware Workstation and the import was fine.
However, in the impoterd VM I cannot use the mouse: I see the pointer move as expected, but when I press the button nothing happens.
I presume it's a configuration mistake, but I cannot solve it...
