Mouse Over and Out Issue - Question....

Posting this here generically...

I have now attempted to install SUSE... And a few others....

My question is about the CTR+ALT to release the mouse.

In XP obviously, after we install tools, this is not an issue and the mouse flows freely across the screen without regard to OS.

This does not seem to work in the OTHER OS's.

Is this a fix, future feature, am I doing something wrong and it should work?

Whats the story?

Cause I am sure it goes without saying that it would be best if it always worked...

Have you tried changing that key assignment? Perhaps you're having problems with it in SUSE because that mapping is already unique for that OS.

Not at all. You misunderstood.

The CTR+ALT works great.

I wish I did not NEED it.

In Windows XP, you do not. Your mouse floats across the screens without locking up on the VM of XP.

That seems to be the ONLY VM that works this way.... my SuSE and BSD all lock on click and you cant get out without having to do the key stroke.

My question is.... why and when will that be fixed if it is supposed to work that way.

OK, maybe I did so, if I'm understanding you now, I'm wondering if this might be related to Coherence being available for Windows but not for other guests.

At the present time there are no Parallels tools for Linux/Unix. There will certainly have to be some time in the future - this is already very well supported in VMWare's Fusion when running Linux and Solaris and I can't imagine Parallels is going to risk losing a PCRag shootout over something as basic as this. I like the feature so much I run my Unix sessions in VMWare along side Windows in Parallels. Cut and pasting and dragging and dropping between Windows and Solaris is very handy so I hope this feature is a high priority. Certainly I'd like it before the beta license for VMWare runs out

I found out just today that Parallels is in Renton, Washington - just a few miles south of me - and Microsoft. It's rare that there isn't a connection between MSFT and local ISV's. My money is on Vista emphasis Ãœber Alles (or превыше всего, I suppose). It's still a young product and they've gotten a lot done with it. In hind sight I think they went live a bit early but they did win the name recognition battle for Mac virtual machines.
