Multiple monitors & "lost" windows

Using a Macbook Pro... my normal desktop has an external monitor. When I disconnect from that, though, any VM windows that are on the external monitor do not get relocated to the primary LCD. Expose shows them, but I can't find any way of getting the windows to move the the primary display.

Even if I shut down Parallels, then restart and re-open the VMs, they still re-open off-screen. Changing the LCD resolution in an attempt to get the VM windows to reset their locations also does not help.

Dunno if this is a Mac thing that I'm missing (though the Mac gurus in the office were confused as well) but every other application's windows automatically move to the LCD.

I had this problem last night as well. As a workaround I disabled the auto-loading of the last VM. Then, after launching Parallels, I chose File->Open. That brought the VM window and the File window into focus. I could then drag the VM window to my desired location on my desktop. Make sure you move the VM window. Just bringing it into focus isn't enough, you have to move it.

Anyone know where the info for window position is stored? I couldn't find it anywhere in a plist or other configuration file. It would be nice to know how to fix this through the OS.

*i think i found it*
in your home directory it is a file called .parallels_settings
it starts with a period so that means it's a hidden file.
if you go to Applications ---> Utilities ---> Terminal and type pico .parallels_settings that should allow you to edit it. it looks like top left of your monitor/screen is 0,0

Yep, editing the ~/.parallels_settings file solved the problem. Thanks very much to those who suggested it!

Parallels.. might want to check those settings on app load to make sure that at least some of the menu bar is on the physical screen...
