Multiple OS's - NOT

Parallel's insists I have two guest OS's installed, WinXP Pro and WinXP Pro 1. I do not and never have. I delete one, rename it, disable the hard drive, whatever, and it comes back, renames itself WinXP Pro 1, re-enables the hard drive, changes memory settings, etc. and ends up being a duplicate of the other vm. How do I fix this rather pesky problem? I am hesitant to delete the vm in the traditional way as it points to the files that I need. I have 2 identical vm's pointing to common files.

I'm beginning to believe my beloved Mac mini is possessed.
 
just delete it using the Parallels file menu

which versions are you using please?

have you changed any defaukt settings?

Won't it delete the desired one as well, since both vm's point to the same hdd and pvs files?

Using the latest version, build 3188.
 
Didn't work. I saved the .hdd and .pvs files to my desktop, then deleted the one vm. They both went away (I think because they are the same). When I bring the .hdd and .pvs files back into the fold all works well (vm with only one guest OS option) until I close out. When next I click on the Parallels icon I have 2 guest OS's again. Pesky and frustrating.:(
 
Drop the .pvs and .hdd files you want to keep on an external hard drive... Completely uninstall Parallels (i.e. use the utility, then delete anything left over that is related to Parallels, make sure you have your activation code handy prior to doing this... And either A. be careful, or B. disconnect your external so that it does not get searched), and then put the one you want back on after re-installing Parallels... Worked when I ran into the issue a couple times.

And, if in doubt, back-up more than less.
