My 27" iMac boot drive is already configured and has the latest version of OS X (10.6.6) installed. Can I install Parallels 6 without having to move all my data and reformat -- or partition -- the boot drive?

no, you don't have to repartition or reformat yr hard drive.
Parallels is a virtual system, which will be stored in files on yr OS X system.
