So, my Parallels Windows vm hung during download of a large file from Steam. (it was a Windows game that I wanted to try).
The Windows vm was completely catatonic: a white popup window probably from Parallels was blank and inert, and nothing on the desktop responded to mouse interaction.
So I killed the process from OSX, via the menubar (select app, Quit).
Immediately I was logged out of my OSX session!

That is very odd. Why would killing off the vm cause a logout from OSX?
No great harm done, I logged back in and resumed my processes, but it wasted a little time and I'm puzzled. How can an interaction with the Windows vm cause a logout from OSX? is this an OSX bug or a Parallels problem? Has anyone else seen anything similar?

I'll cautiously reboot that vm and see if I can complete the DL, but if I have to start over it will be expensive (30+GB).

    [sound of gentle head scratching]
