NAV on XP VM

Anyone tried norton antivirus on an XP VM yet? I don't see why it wouldn't work but I just wanted to make sure if anyone had tried it that they hadn't encountered issues.

It seems like the kind of thing which would cause problems, if problems were going to be caused!!

By the way, great job on beta 3 guys... the mouse and graphics seem smoother and more responsive. That makes it liveable for long hours of development time with browsers, vs.net 2005, etc, etc.

I installed NAV and also Webroot Spy Sweeper with no problem. Live update on NAV worked fine. I don't know how necessary this protection is since I don't plan to go online very often with the VM. However, I already had the software so I just felt it wouldn't hurt.

Thanks, Paul. My main concern was Norton's long disk scans. Like you, since this is windows, I plan to install all the protection devices required of windows these days.

I've installed the full Norton Internet Security package (minus Parental Control) on my XP install on Parallels, and everything appears to be working properly. It's done full system scans, and it's catching those annoying Netsky variations that show up in junk mail. I've tested the firewall settings from inside and outside, and everything is passed or blocked as I've configured it.

I've saved copies of the VM with Windows XP Pro SP2 plus all updates, NIS, and a few common things like spam catchers, WinZip, Acrobat Reader, and so forth. This is what I copy for each new VM instance.

Great idea. I've been backing mine up automatically when I do my mac HD backup, but doing the base install of everything I need then saving the VM for quick "installation" is a great idea.
