Please click Start -> Run and execute cmd.exe. Type in the appeared window command "ipconfig /all" (without quotes). Stretch the window to make all the output fit and without closing the window, click menu of Parallels Destkop "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.

Nope, it is a different issue.
First of all, please disable the "Sharing Internet", it prevents Parallels Shared networking. Then reboot the Mac OS.
Then switch the VM to the Shared Networking and make sure that you have Parallels Tools installed.
If this doesn't help, then

I don't know why this happens (the person who is responsible for PD Installer says that problem is fixed internally), but sometime while upgrading from version 3810 to newest this problem may appear.
Please follow the steps in http://kb.parallels.com/en/6317 (despite the symptoms you are observing are different)

Hi Elric, I'm having the same issue as lots of others on this post. When I started up Parallels the error message comes up saying:
The network adapter does not exist.
There is no network adapter on your Mac for the "Parallels Shared Networking Adapter" virtual network. The network adapter 0 will be disconnected.
I tried doing the 'restore defaults' under networking, and it doesn't work. Any other solution?

I bought a brand new macbook pro with snow leopard. I installed the Parallels desktop 4.0. At the time, I didn't have an internet connection so just installed the original version from the CD. When I started Parallels, an error showed up; "There is no network adapter on your Mac for the "Parallels Shared Networking Adapter" virtual network. The network adapter 0 will be disconnected." After I had this problem I tried "restore default" from Preference but another error occurred; "unable to connect to Parallels Desktop you may experience a connection problem or your Mac may be down."
Now this error occurs every time I try to start Parallels and I cannot even start Parallels. What should I do?

Hi, you definitely need to download and install the latest build of Parallels Desktop 4.0. The link for the latest build can be found here: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5802 because Parallels Desktop prior to 3810 was release before the SnowLeopard appeared
if this won't help, PD should suggest to send a problem report when the message is displayed. Please send it and post here its ID

It seems unnecessary, installer should detect that previous version is installed and just upgrade it. But if you want, uninstall can be done from PD 3848-dmg
