Network not working after restart

What does this mean: I'm using this computer inside a corporate network. If I shutdown WinXP inside Parallels and then start WinXP again, the login will not accept my password. Something is wrong with the network. I am not sure whether the network is completely disconnected or something else is wrong. There is a way to get the network working normally. I have to press the || top icon -> Devices -> Network 1 -> from there I can press Bridged network and choose Ethernet. Then I can revert back to what it was from the beginning: Shared Network. In other words, if I "refresh" the network type, the network will start working. I can go back to what it was, but due to the changing back and forth, it starts working.

Is there a way to get rid of this problem?

I too, have this EXACT same problem, periodically, on my MacBook Pro, on both my wired network and the wireless network. Switching between Bridged and Shared mode helps 80% of the time but sometimes I have to restart Win 7. When you move around a lot during the day, switching LANs, opening and closing your laptop, this is a real pain.

Yes, I agree, it was really hard to pinpoint the exact behavior too. Many times changing from Disconnect to Shared worked (after waiting a few seconds), but some times that did not do the trick. I wonder if this is "normal" with all setups or is this connected to something particular.

This problem is still bugging me daily. I now have the newest Parallels purchased and installed and it still didn't help at all. Every time I log into Windows it doesn't get past the login unless I fiddle around with the Devices -> Network 1 settings. The logic seems to be erratic also, I switch between Shared Network, Ethernet, vnic0 and wait 5 seconds in between, trying to log each time. Sometimes I have to switch 3-4 times before it finally allows a successful login.

Where is the solution?

Have you shut down WinXP inside Parallels abnormally?
