on MacOS 10.11.6 with a windows 10 guest, using Parallels Desktop 12.2.1 : I cant attach a USB thumb drive to the Windows guest. in de VM's Device menu, there is no 'external device' entry in the Device preference pane, when I add my thumb drive (or any other usb device) I can only connect it to my mac, the Host in not listed. thanks
Hello Landry, Parallels Support Here! Please refer this article http://kb.parallels.com/111725 and check it helps. Thanks, Shathish
I did before posting, and it did not help. the device mounts on the mac host, but there is no 'external device' menu, and the VM is not available in the device pref pane. reinstalling parallels tools didn't help.
Hello Landry, please make sure that you have added the USB Device in the virtual machine configuration. Open VM Configuration http://kb.parallels.com/117287 Go To Hardware > Check There is USB is enabled. If not, please Click on the + Sign and add the USB and check it helps. Thanks, Shathish
That fixed my problem. I didn't have USB in the hardware list. I had to shutdown the VM in order to add it (that's why I didn't find it in the first place) thank you.
