Non system disk error

I m having problems with installing windows xp to parallels for mac. I tried installing the CD-R first then starting parallels... but that didn't work. Then I made a disk image and changed the extension form .dmg to .iso and that didn't work. I believe I have the configurations set correctly but it still doesn't work. I just get a screen that shows non-system disk. I really don't know where to go from here. I even e-mailed parallel support and I didn't receive an e-mail back. Can anyone help me... this is starting to annoy me SuzieQ

When you make a disk image you have to set it to "CD/DVD Master mode" or something like that. It should make a .cdr file that you can rename to .iso.

If it makes a .dmg file then it was set incorrectly.

A .dmg is diffrent from a .iso , whereas a .cdr is actually the same thing with a diffrent name.

Also, are you sure this disk is bootable? Can you try booting it in a real windows box? Is your VM set to boot from the CD?

There are apparently many XP home discs floating around that are not bootable.
