I'm having issues with O365
When installing O365 with shared license activation on remote desktops, the user can't log in to activate Office.
This only happens with published applications; the desktop works fine.
We have Windows Server 2019.
Any ideas?

I pulled my hair out on this one and actually inadvertenly checked the user RemoteApps checkbox and it worked but unfortunately it created another problem. It's the reason I came on here to write a post about it.
 
Did you get any further with this? We are having exactly the same issue in our RAS implementation. We migrated from Citrix to Parallels.
 
Anyone got this one figured out? I have on user that is experiencing this issue. All other users are able to login normally (therefore wouldn't want to apply any settings that affect all users)
I have recreated the users office profile, but that only works for a while and then start to have the same issue again.
 
And immediately answering to myself. I published Desktop for the user, and he opened Outlook and Excel from there with no problems. After that he was also able to open both as published apps also. Strange. Will see if this sticks or if it is a temporary fix.
 
Hello ! Indeed (JukkaK1 you right !) you have to activate MSO using a published desktop. Never found another workaround.
 
This sounds like a classic 'Seamless App' authentication bug on Server 2019. Since the full desktop works but the published app fails, the Office activation window is likely getting stuck in the background or being suppressed by the RDS 'Seamless' shell.

A few things to check:

  • WAM (Web Account Manager): Try disabling WAM via the registry (DisableAADWAM) as a test. Often, the modern auth broker doesn't play nice with published apps.

  • SSO Status: Check if you have 'EnableADAL' set to 1 in the registry.

  • Identity Overlays: Sometimes the 'Sign-in' window opens behind the published app.
