    Hey all,

I'm evaluating Parallels Desktop on my M2 Pro Mac after being dissatisfied with performance from VMWare Fusion. When allowing Parallels to automatically install Windows 11, it sets the user up as a local user. Not necessarily a bad thing, but some apps that normally would be installed in the OOBE aren't installed. In particular, OneDrive.

I prefer not to share the OneDrive folder from my Mac, especially with how excruciatingly slow the Mac client is. But since this is the arm64 build of Windows 11, there isn't an obvious way to install OneDrive if it isn't already installed. The download executables for OneDrive from MS throw up errors. There is no OneDriveSetup.exe in C:\Windows\SysArm64. OneDrive isn't an option when adding or removing Windows features. Clicking on an odopen:// link doesn't work, and it's not on the Microsoft Store.

I tried to flip the install to manual during setup, but it proceeded automatically with a local installation.

    Help appreciated!

    Hello.

The default 64bit installation for OneDrive typically returns a request to install 32bit for emulation purposes, however, it indeed doesn't actually direct you to the installer, contrary to what the error message suggests.

You can download and install OneDrive 32Bit installer that is known to install or utilize the insider program\Microsoft Office suite. The download links for 32Bit and 64 and additional comments for Arm64 version are available at the following article by Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...onedrive-9d36d262-4fc2-4019-a8f6-314ef41a29d1

Let us know if there are further concerns, if possible with screenshots.

Thanks! Installing the x86 32-bit build of OneDrive worked, then after ticking the option to enrol in Insider builds, it auto-installed the arm64 version.

Unfortunately, that solution does not work for me. I tried all x86 32-bit and 64-bit and Arm-based versions, but my Windows 11 on Parallel still gives the same error. I think I need a 32-bit arm version of OneDrive, but I couldn't find it.

  5. I had the same issue on my Parallels (Windows 11 Pro / M3 MacBook Air, macOS Sonoma 14.4.1). I finally figured out how to install OneDrive on my Parallels.
You can follow the instructions on this GitHub page:
    https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/Of...SharePointOnline/install-previous-sync-app.md
Simply follow the steps under "Install Groove.exe with Office 2016". It's not a complicated installation, and it's been working well for me so far.

To me they should just fix this, its probably a combination of Parallels and Microsoft. The way the error comes up it seems like the processor is not recognized as a 64-bit ARM processor, although its unusual that the 32-bit version will not install either.

In your Windows 11 VM navigate to:
    \\Mac\Home\Library\CloudStorage\
You should see your OneDrive account folder(s).
Right-click the one(s) you want and pin it/them to Quick Access.
    This solution works for me.
