OSX Mavericks Host, Parallels 9, Windows XP guest runs slower and slower

As stated in description, updated to OSX Mavericks. Have a Windows XP guest running, which has been working fine. Now shows Not Responding on Activity Monitor (which I know is a known issue), but gradually the VM runs slower and slower over time until it virtually stops.
Even then if I restart it, it still runs crazily slow - I have to restart my Mac for it to perform normally again....

i got same problem after updated to mavericks. VM makes OS freeze eventually after slowness.

After restarting a few times, mine has now settled down, it has run overnight idle without any problems.
I'll keep an eye on it....
