Paralells Freeze and Black Screen?

I'm running Parallels on my MacBook Pro and have been for about three years now. Today, with no warning, whenever I start the program, the Windows OS tries to book and then the whole screen goes black and is unresponsive. The only thing I can do is reboot the Mac. I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8 and I think Parallels 5? HELP!

it's probably just your parallels app going black, not your mac. this happens to me when i try to start a win xp vm while my iphone is plugged in to the usb port. i'm running parallels 7.0.15106 on mountain lion 10.8.1. after i undock my iphone and restart the vm, it starts up fine. this seems to be a parallels bug.
