Parallel Tools In Windows XP Pro

Using the 3106 Beta.

Fresh install of the Beta
Using new 266 15" MacBook Pro
2GB RAM
100GB HD Space Free
Adjusted Reserved Memory: 1628MB
VM Confiruation Memory: 1500MB

I get the crash dumps much like everyone else is experiencing, however, interesting thing is happening. When this crash happens, it "disabled" the Mouse and Video tools within the Windows environment and I lose that functionality. The only way to get it back is to uninstall the tools in Windows and reinstall them then they work.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

Try assigning 750 MB to your VM and 850 to Parallels in preferences. It may fix your problem and you will almost certainly get better performance.

defniitely too much memory slows down parallels

leave memory allocation on automatic for the Mac OS
Activity Monitor in OS 10.4.8

running at 18% cpu 118 mb real memory 2 gb virtual memory

Win Xp task manger 279 mb memory 6% cpu
openig 3 apps in winxp 329 mb 9% cpu

back in activity monitor

parallels takes more cpu but uses the same
real and virtiual memory

I think the Parallels team should be congratulated on their memory mangement skills

now Parallels extra activity is being taken by Windows Live Today and advertising screen redraws

so you really don't need to allocate so much memory to Parallels
