Parallels 11.2.3 on Mac 10.9 OS

I have an old mac, circa 2012, the latest version of parallels I can load on it is 11.2.3. I am trying to load Windows 10 Pro and see if it will run a particular program on it. Is there a way I can activate it for a trial period before purchasing to see if it works.
