Parallels 11, Windows 10, Wireless USB Adapter Stops Working

This appears to be similar to some other USB related threads but here is my situation:

MacBook Pro (Mid 2015)
Parallels Desktop Pro Version 11.1.1 (32312)
Windows 10 Enterprise
External USB Wireless Adapter Permanently Assigned to VM

I am experiencing an issue with my VM losing connection to a wireless USB WiFi adapter when I suspend or reboot my MacBook.

  • Wireless adapter attached to MacBook
  • Reboot or wake MacBook
  • OS X: Open System Information
    • Listed under USB > USB 3.0 Bus
      • 802.11 n WLAN
  • Start or wake VM
  • Parallels: Open Device > External Devices
    • No wireless adapter listed.
  • Windows
    • No wireless adapter detected
    • Refreshing devices in Device Manager does not detect adapter
  • Unplug USB adapter from MacBook
  • Wait 15-30 seconds
  • Plug device back in
  • DOS X: Open System Information
    • Listed under USB > USB 3.0 Bus
      • 802.11 n WLAN
  • Parallels: Open Device > External Devices
    • Wireless adapter listed
  • Windows
    • Detects wireless adapter and connect to network
Any combination of suspending or shutting down the VM, suspending or shutting OS X produces the same results. I have tried removing the permanent assignment, updating the driver in Windows and adjusting the USB power settings in Windows. None have resolved the issue.
