Windows 10 was always booted and ready to use for an application on my Mac in 15 seconds max under Parallels 12. As Windows 10 Creator was coming along I purchased Parallels 13, installed it with no problems. Windows 10 still booted under Parallels 13 in around 15 seconds. Windows 10 Creator then installed and the boot time with this version is now 6 to 8 minutes.

I contacted Parallels technical support who took the issue seriously. After two bouts on remote support where the agents were very helpful, the second agent agreed that the performance of Parallels 13 and Windows 10 Creator on my mac was wholly unacceptable. He told me that he would be raising the issue with the second line team and that they would get back to me. In the meantime he suggested that he roll back to a previous snapshot that I identified as being with the original Windows 10 version, not Creator. I agreed as a temporary fix so that I could at least use the few Windows apps I use. The roll back worked and, hey presto, Windows 10 original version booted in around 15 seconds and I had great performance back.

We ended the support session and within 10 minutes Windows 10 Creator had downloaded again and was prompting to be installed. As it is not possible to disable Windows updates in Windows Home versions, I had to roll back to the previous snapshot again and immediately disconnect the network connection within the VM. This has now stopped the update.

So, what is the point of this post. Well, Parallels regard the roll back to a previous snapshot as a complete solution to the issue. you will not be surprised to know that I do not concur with that view. A solution to the issue is to SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Parallels sell Version 13 on the basis that you will get good performance with Windows 10 Creator. In my particular case that is certainly nor so and their support specialists have acknowledged that. I post below the flippant response to my challenging the closure of the case by Parallels :

    Hello Alan,
    Thank you for your reply.
The technician reverted back to working snapshot and issue with low performance is resolved for which you have initially contacted us for.
To disable automatic updates, please contact Microsoft support at 1800-642-7676
We appreciate your time and patience.
    Thanks,

I have challenged this response and demanded that the original issue I reported is passed to the next level. I have just received a response indicating that my request will be complied with.

The reason I've started this thread is to warn that there are issues with Windows 10 Creator and the the kind of response in closing the case after a roll back to a previous version is not what any Parallels Customer Support Agent should be responding with. A solution is required and, Parallels, I suggest in the interests of your company, the sooner the better.

@AlanM7, can you please generate two problem reports: when virtual machine performance is good (i.e. before update) and when performance is downgraded (i.e. with Creator update installed). And post respective problem report id-s here. To generate problem report make VM window active and in Mac app menu go to Help -> Send Technical Data.
