How much of the touted speed improvements will apply to 32-bit Core Duo Macs. They obviously can't run the new 64-bit engine and I'm wondering how much of the speedup in graphics, etc., is due to the new engine.
The speed improvements might not be as high as when run on higher profile hardware, but it definitely feels much better on my MacBook Pro '06 (the first one, the one with a 'yonah' initial Core Duo, running at 2 GHz).
Cool. That's the same machine I have. It has been a good one. I only wish I could put more than 2GB of RAM in it. Thanks. Alan
I can't comment on your specific hardware and I don't know how much of a limitation 2GB of ram is, but there are noticeable performance increases from v5->v6. Your VMs won't be any faster than what your Mac is capable of, but the performance and responsiveness of the GUIs no longer feel virtualized - everything feels native.
