Hi,
I recently obtained a new Macbook Pro and I installed the latest version of Parallels on it, and in it, I made available a fresh new Windows 7 installation, set-up in Bootcamp.
Previously, I was also using a Macbook Pro, with Parallels 5 and Windows XP.
Now for the weird thing (mind you: this may very well not be a Parallels issue, but perhaps an Ultraedit issue, so I will ask there too, but possibly someone has come across it, hence me asking it here too): In the old set-up, the sharing of clipboards between the Mac and Windows worked completely fine, both ways, including from Ultraedit (Windows) to Mac apps.
However... in the new set-up, this is not the case! The Ultraedit versions are the same, and it is set to use the Windows clipboard, instead of one of the custom user clipboards. Now, if I copy something from the Mac (all copy-paste actions done using the Mac hotkeys <CMD><C> and <CMD><V>) and paste it into Ultraedit (or any other Windows app for that matter) it works flawlessly; if I copy any text from a variety of Windows apps, such as Word, and paste it in the Mac it works flawlessly too, if I copy something in Ultraedit and paste it into a Windows app, it works fine, but.... if I copy something from Ultraedit, and then try to paste it into a Mac app, it is not there! Instead, it will then contain whatever was previously sent to the Mac clipboard using any of the other style copy actions mentioned above.
This is really driving me crazy; all configurable Parallels settings are made as they should, and all Ultraedit settings regarding clipboards also seem to be set-up correctly. It appears that for some reason the copy action from Ultraedit is limited to the Windows clipboard only, and that it doesn't "copy through" to the Mac clipboard.
Is there something I can do to fix this, or is this something that can be fixed by the programmers of Parallels, or of those of Ultraedit instead?
I'm not 100% certain how the clipboard sharing is implemented, but it certainly does seem like Ultraedit uses a way to sent stuff to the Windows clipboard, that's not transparently picked up by Parallels...
I appreciate seeing any ideas for reasons behind this, and/or a fix for it.
Anyone?
Cheers,
Olaf Greve
