Parallels 6 Win7 Ult - revert frm 64 bit to 32

I'm on a MacBook Pro 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7, 4 GB. Mac OS 10.6.4. Running Parallel 6 upgraded from 5. Also Win 7 Ult, which I originally installed as 64 bit. My main purpose for having Parallel is to run Win XP based embroidery and quilting software. Buying new embroidery software is not an option. I was told that you can run these programs on Win 7.

The reason for my wanting to revert to 32 bit is because I am trying to install an embroidery program (VIP Customizing 6.1) which stops the installation saying it isn't compatible with 64 bit.

I inserted the Win7 Ult 32 bit disk and it looked like it was being installed but in the end it looks like it stayed at 64 bit because the embroidery program continues to say it is not compatible with 64 bit.

Can I install both the 64 bit and the 32 bit side-by-side using Parallels? If so, how? OR how can I revert to 32 bit?

MORAIMAR, there is no need to "revert" Parallels Desktop to 64-bit. The application you are trying to install does not know anything about Parallels Desktop, it is guest OS itself that it detects as 64-bit and refuses to install.

Please check your Windows 7 bitness. To do it, open Windows Start Menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Properties". Look at "System type" string - it will tell you your Windows bitness. I have attached a screenshot of my Win7, which is 32-bit.

If you see that your Windows is 64-bit, you will need to locate 32-bit Windows installation media and create a new Virtual Machine to install new Windows.
