Parallels 7 Microphone not working correctly in Windows 8 VM

Hi,
I have seen a lot about this, but no resolution. I am running 64 bit Windows 8 in VM with Parallels 7 on an iMac. Skype and Lync cannot record sound correctly - levels need to be jacked up to the max for anything to be recorded, and the result sounds like there is a lot of "static".
Is anyone else hitting this?
Anyone resolved?

I've got something similar but it is with Camtasia Studio 8. The recording volume is about 30% to 40% lower of what you get if you are just recording in OSX. It must be a bug, unless the powers at be have a solution.
