Note to any others with have just purchased Parallels 8, and to Parallels support who may read this.
When I downloaded the 3.3 GB Windows8-ReleasePreview-64bit-English.iso through Parallels 8 Desktop it attempted to "verify" it before installing. It failed on a checksum validation and said the file may have been corrupted. I retried and got the same error.
I then tried to manually create a new VM using the downloaded .iso... it installed with no problems.
To Parallels support, please check the checksum you have registered.
