Parallels 8 with Mavericks OS - solution to getting it to work

I have recently upgraded Mountain Lion (running Parallels 8 with Windows 7) to Mavericks.... and got the fatal flaw problem that looks to be well documented that "Your virtual machine may run slow because virtualization support is disabled on your Mac" - and then it stops... Parallels has you do a number of things that supposedly will get it to work - as listed in their "solutions" for the problem - including uninstalling Parallels, running "repair Disk Permissions", rebooting, then reinstalling Parallels Desktop 8, and making sure you have the "latest" build version....

What they DON'T tell you - and why it took me over a day of research and swearing..... is that clicking on "Check for Updates" on Your Parallels Desktop - will NOT give you the latest (and required!) build version - even though it says "you have the latest version", and no version is available. My version latest build that it said was possible through "updates" was 8.0 18483.... yet to run with Mavericks - you NEED build 8.0 18608. That version IS available by downloading through the website... you can't just reload your purchased version with the Disk - and "update" for latest build.... doesn't work.

Just posting this to help out any other dweebs like myself out there!

Had exactly the same experience as Dahrfry. So I, downloaded with the link from Alexy and followed the instructions from Dahrfry.

Worked like a charm. I only spent a couple hours researching and swearing.

Tried to install the link given and the installation aborts as soon as it says "initializing desktop." Any ideas?
