Parallels and Boot Camp

I have just installed both Leopard and Parallels for the first time.

I have a partition on my hard drive on which I had installed Windows XP last year using Boot Camp Beta. Can I access Windows XP using Parallels from the Macintosh hard drive partition or do I have to delete the Windows partition and reinstall Windows XP using Parallels? Thanks.
 
Hello Afcisa,

You can access Windows XP installed on the BootCamp using Parallels.
When installing Windows on your new Virtual Machine, configuring virtual hard drive, choose Custom mode - Use BootCamp.

Parallels & BootCamp

My question is along these lines. I have Parallels installed on my MBP and also have BootCamp. I used the "custom" install you referred to in your post to afcisa, my question is after having utilized this can I then delete my partition as my Parallels is now configured with the XP on my BootCamp or will I have to do a complete reinstall of a new VM? I want to clear up that hard drive space if I don't need it in BootCamp is my reason. I have one program (Professional Driver Logbook) that I use everyday and I don't want to lose the years of logbook daily records I have in it. In the event your answer is "NO" to my above question how do I move my DDL Program over to my Newly installed VM, if that is what you say I have to do to eliminate my space from BootCamp, and keep it totally intact? I appreciate your help in this matter, Thanks in advance !! Taz
 
Hello Taz,

Please use Parallels Transporter to migrate your Boot Camp partition to Parallels virtual disk. The Guide will help you.

Check if the VM using Boot Camp partition works properly. If it does, remove Boot Camp using Apple Boot Camp assistant. All the data, all the applications you have on your VM will stay there.
