As per the title, anyone been able to install this update?
I just keep getting a 'We couldn't install this update, but you can try again (0x800f0982)' message.

Could you provide us with some more info? What version of Windows are you running, is it a retail release or are you on the Insider release channel? I just installed the following:

2022-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for arm64-based Systems (KB5018496)

on Windows 11 Pro 22H2 ARM under Parallels 18.0.3 Pro and have not had any issues. I am on the release channel and not an insider and had the 22H2 release given to me on the release channel.

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎10/‎8/‎2022
OS build 22621.755
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22636.1000.0

Sorry this is so long, but the rest of us users need more info from you to help answer your question. Thanks!

Good points all...
I actually think I am on an insider build - will check, and if so will try the regular releases.
Windows 11 Home though.

Nope - I'm not on insider builds... (I was, which confused me, but I'm not any longer)
Windows 11 Home - 21H2
Installed on 5/6/2022
OS build 22000.1098
Experience Windows Feature Pack 1000.22000.1098.0

I have updated the Mac OS, and Parallels, as new updates just became available.
No change - KB5018483 will still not install.
I have also tried every suggestion I can find via internet searching... nothing works.

Does this mean there is an issue with parallels?

I have same issue

. Macbook M1 max host running Macos 13.0 venture, Parallels 18, windows 11 guest version 21h2 (OS Build 22000.1098)

Should also say, using an M1 Mackbook Air.
MacOS Ventura 13.0 (22A380)
(Only recently updated - same issue before)
Parallels 18.0.3 (53079)

I looked up the KB5018483 and it appears that it only applies to Windows 11 21H2 installations and not 22H2. There was, however, a recent update to Parallels to bring it from 18.0.3 to 18.1 with a number of bug fixes. you might want to check that one out and see if it fixes your install issues for the KB update you mention.

I am still on 21H2 and it looks like KB018483 was installed successfully a few days ago BEFORE I did the recent Parallels update.

i verified i am on 21H2, upgraded to parallels 18.1 and retried and failed again this morning. It always gets to 70%, then seems to hang for a few minutes before failing. Ive downloaded the offline update to save time in testing, but online update exhibits the same behavior.

Yes, I do think KB5018483 only applies to Windows 11 21H2 installations.
I suspect you can't get to 22H2 without this update being installed?

Just updated Parallels to 18.1 - no change, as installation repeatedly fails with the same message.
Even the standalone Microsoft installer fails, as does every other suggested installation option I've found...

Well I also still have 21H2 and Parallels 18.1.0 and even though I had KB5018483 installed back on 10/28/22 (before the recent Parallels update), my "Update History" lists it as being successfully installed. So I don't agree that after getting this update you can then have Windows update successfully install 22H2. Unless there is something else holding my VM back from the install. (Like a big puzzle - that's why I love computers! LOL)

new cumulative update out KB5019961 and this also fails with error code 0x800f0982. It looks like we are stuck in no update hell.

Well I got 22H2 installed on 11/4/2022 and have had four cumulative updates installed since then. The latest KB50519980. No error codes. Funny thing (I wrote a post in the other update thread about 22H2) is that just clicking on Update didn't get 22H2 to become available, but I saw a small icon in the lower left of the menu bar that I never saw before "announcing" that I had new updates with new features available to me. When I clicked on it, Windows opened the Windows Update part of Settings and there was a new "option" to install 22H2.

I opened a ticket with Parallels customer support and worked the ticket with them for two weeks. Scrubbed the update directory, ran the trouble shooter, turned off and on very services. Parallels support thinks it is a Microsoft OS issue and referred to me MS support.

it is a known issue at MS, there seems to be some work arounds for Intel architecture, but nothing yet for Apple silicone. Here is link to MS support forum:

6 weeks later and three cumulative updates behind, tickets open at Parallels and Microsoft with no resolution - each pointing finger at the other. Applied parallel's update 18.1.1 (53328) and tried latest cum update KB5021234, still fails with error message 0x800f0982
