Parallels compared to VMware Fusion

Could anyone globally tell me why to choose parallels over vmware.

also, Is it possible to read and write to microsoft formated disk when in mac?

Hi,

I used Fusion for years and gave Parallels a try as PD 6 was released. I found both XP and Win 7 VMs a lot more responsive than in Fusion with less ressource consumption, especially with everything about networking.

The actual PD 6 version seems to be not so stable as usual (Look around here in the forums) but I wouldn't revert to Fusion.

Mac OS X can read NTFS formatted disks but can't write to. There are both freeware and commercial drivers to circumvent this.

Thanx for the answer, looked around a bit and looks like i will give virtualbox a try first before actually buying this product.
Which one of the software that enables a mac os and windows read and write to each other would you recomend?

Paragon NTFS for Mac is the best known commercial software. From the freeware side, try SL-NTFS.

Just to be sure - how is the NTFS HDD connected to your Mac? If it's via LAN or WLAN, you don't need any drivers. If the only NTFS HDD you want to access is the one inside your VM, your virtualization software can do for you. Only if you connect physically (USB, Firewire ...), you need a driver at all.
