I have installed Parallels 5 on my Mac Book Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6). Parallels runs ok, but I cannot install the Parallels Internet Security (free 12 months Kaspersky). When I go to the Virtual Machine Menu and click "Install Parallels Internet Security" the following message appears:

"Parallels Internet Security could not be downloaded. Please check your network connection and try again."

My internet connection is working as I am able to browse the web. I have tried reinstalling Parallels Tools, I have also completely removed Parallels Tools and installed them from scratch all to no avail. I have also tried turning off the Windows firewall and the Mac firewall, but this hasn't worked either.

Is anyone able to help with this problem? Thanks.
 
I too have the same problem on an iMac. Please clue me in if you get an answer as to why the Parallels Internet Security will not download. Thanks.
 
Internet security problem

I have now tried twice but also get the same error message that Parallels cannot be downloaded and to check my Internet connection, which is fine. I have Parallels 5 and Windows 7.
 
I thought it was included in Parallels for ever ... not just for 12 months. Was that wrong? if so where do I get an upgrade license from? Parallels or Kaspersky?
 
I too am having the same problem. My Internet connection is active and I have never installed Parallels Internet Security. I am running on a Windows 7 Professional virtual machine.
 
Same problem here, Parallels 5 and Windows 7 Ultimate. The Kaspersky update feature has always been flaky for me, but once in a while it worked. Now it hasn't worked for the last month or so.
 
Same problem!

I have been having a lot of problems with the Parallels Internet Security. Running OSX 10.6/Windows XP Pro/Parallels 5. I have tried turning the Firewall On/Off, etc. Support is really lacking on what appears to be a common problem.
 
VERY frustrating to deal with Parallels Support

Well I've been up and down every solution I can find on this with no progress. A support engineer named Bopanna provided the following:

1. Uninstall Parallels Internet Security from Add/Remove Programs dialog on the Windows side (Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs)
2. Shutdown Windows and Parallels Desktop
3. Browse to your virtual machine bundle (extension is .pvm, by default it is stored under you home folder /Documents/Parallels)
4. Ctrl+click it and choose Show package contents
5. Ctrl+click .hdd file and choose Open With -> Parallels Mounter. It will open your Windows hard disk so you could browse it.
6. Browse to C:\Program Files\Parallels\ and delete "Parallels Internet Security" folder
7. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Parallels\ and delete "AVP8" folder
8. Eject the Windows disk in Finder and start your virtual machine
9. Reinstall Parallels Internet Security

That was all fine until I tried Installing Parallels Internet Security again, when I got the same issue.

That picked up the AVP driver, which seemed like progress. Unfortunately, even after rebooting the system, I still cannot install Parallels Internet Security. This seems like a gaping product flaw and makes me wonder if it's worth pursuing an alternative virus protection system, if not switching from Parallels altogether. Has anybody heard of similar problems with VMWare?
